Event Composting

Our 5 composting sites are in Bushwick, Crown Heights, and Bed-Stuy. Due to the microhauling nature of our work, we have a limited radius within which we can offer pickup service.

We are currently accepting requests for events held in Brooklyn, north of Sunrise Highway (Route 27). If you are outside our service area, we encourage you to explore the drop-off option.

Using bicycles, powered by young people from Brooklyn, we collect organics and bring them to our local compost sites. Our staff process the material by hand to become the nutrient rich soil amendment we share with neighbors, partners, and green spaces. Yesterday's waste is today's black gold.

We're happy to discuss multi-day events! Each day will incur fees separately.

Because we microhaul using bicycles, we can only carry so much at once. We have a 96-gallon limit on all pickups. If you have more than 96 gallons, we'd be happy to discuss scheduling an additional pickup.

If you cannot separate your event's meat and dairy from the rest of your organics, we can discuss a partnership option with another local community composter, Compost Power, that may be able to accept your scraps. Please let us know if this is the case.

We prefer to collect post-consumer scraps.

We can only take back-of-house scraps if they are not contaminated with items we cannot accept. The event host is required to communicate with caterer/vendor/food provider about the food waste separation.

A contamination fee will be applied to your final invoice if contaminants are found in scraps collected from back-of-house.

It really depends! Each of the 3 services has a minimum flat fee, but the total cost will depend on your particular event details and the volume of organics to compost. Fill out a Service Request form to get a more detailed estimate for your occasion.
