About the event
We will be upcycling Converse with vintage Japanese Kimono fabrics and red cotton thread. Textile artist and fashion designer Izzy Li Kostrzewa of Isaboko will lead you through the process from choosing the fabrics to how to thread a needle, and stitch decorative patches using hand sewing techniques rooted in East Asian tradition.
Tickets are $30 - $50 sliding scale, and come with a free pair of Converse throwbacks for you to upcycle. There are only 8 spots, and once they're booked, RSVPs will be closed!
This is an outdoors event, held at BK ROT's headquarters at Know Waste Lands Community Garden. Please be prepared to be outside, and let us know if you have any accessibility needs.
